Lug style valves have threaded inserts at both sides of the valve body. This allows them to be installed into a system using two sets of bolts and NO nuts. The valve is installed between two flanges using a separate set of bolts for each flange. This setup permits either side of the piping system to be disconnected without disturbing the other side.

Lug Style Butterfly Valve. The new valve's lug style design is intended specifically for dead-end service and fully pressure rated at 150 psi to allow for easy system expansion to the pipeline without the expense of system shutdown. Typical applications include industrial water treatment, potable water treatment, swimming pools, water parks and waste water systems in such industries as chemical, chemical distribution, electroplating and power plants.
"The 568's lug design allows the ability to cap off the end of the piping system for the immediate need, but easy addition or replacement to the pipeline later on without having to depressurize the system," explains Brian Gordon, GF Piping Product Manager. "This feature offers maximum flexibility for system design while maximizing cost savings when changes dictate the need for pipeline expansion." |
